There is one article that interests me. It is the article on “gut feeling”. The author is Lynn Sherr. One Monday afternoon, she was admitted into the medical hospital due to the piercing pain felt in her lower right gut. She suspected it was cancer but the doctor argued it was appendicitis. That was before the operation.
After the operation, it was found out to be colon cancer. Colon cancer was actually a silent killer but this time the pain in the gut caused by the obstruction in the intestine. The pain had saved her life. The tumour had burst through the walls of the colon. The cells could spread through the lymphatic system. After a week or so, the results of the surgery came back. There was no lymph nodes involvement and that was good. She soon went to carry out chemotherapy. She made frequent visits to the hospital often, decreasing the frequency of the number of visits, after each visit. After carrying the treatment for five years, chances of recurrences are low but must return yearly.
The writer must be feeling very lucky to have survived this ordeal. Colon cancer kills without any symptoms. This time round a miracle happened as the pain aroused her attention. We as people must not be too happy over one success as one day we might fall again. Just like this author, she just hopes for the best of everything. We must not risk our health and do regular full body checkups. Never feel one is fit and healthy. We do not what is going in on in our body until we check them out. We must do more checkups as age catches up. When one is sick, he would always want to be normal again. Just like this author, when he found out she got cancer, she was afraid, but when she is allowed to eat soft foods, she rejoiced the fact she is turning normal.
Nevertheless, our fate is destined. We cannot change it. You may see someone close to you one day and be attending his funeral the following week. So cherish the time you have with your loved one. Time does not wait for anyone.
